| The
small publishing house of Keyham Books grew from a publishing frustration.
I had two books published 'normally', stemming from my RAF life and my ongoing
pastime of motorcaravanning, by Osprey and Robert Hale ('Tales from the
Crewroom' and 'The Motorcaravan Handbook'). I then tried to interest
many publishers in 'The Whispering Giant in Uniform', the story of
the Bristol Britannia aircraft in Royal Air Force service. 'Good book -
but too small a market,' was the cry. So, way back in 1996, a bit of DIY was called for! With the help of the right software, a scanner, a removable hard disk and a helpful printing company, 1000 copies were produced - and they sold! Buoyed on by this, 'RV in UK' was next, followed by 'Specialist Aircrew' - then 'The Recreational Nomad' - 'The RAF Britannia and its people' joined the list. I have also branched out into 'books' on CD. Detail of all this is available on the following pages (you can use the photos above as links) and there are some thoughts on DIY publishing. book publishing project with a difference.
There is a website which enables you to produce 'one off' books of a very high standard, using your own photos and text.
