The idea for this, my first book, stemmed from the thought that folklore is not dead. There are many present day situations where events occur and their happenings are retold, again and again, until some 'rounding' occurs and exaggeration creeps in. A ripe breeding ground for this is the RAF flying world. This book pieced together many of those aircrew stories and set them against the background of RAF transport flying. It was well received:

'For many, 'Tales from the Crewroom' will be a delightful journey down Memory Lane whilst for others it will provide a light hearted insight into the Royal Air Force of yesteryear ... the paperback is an enjoyable read ...'

'This short book written with great charm by David Berry ... features 50 stories about the funny side of RAF flying in general and RAF Transport Command in particular ... can be enjoyed by anyone who has ever stepped on a plane.'

'... will appeal both to RAF servicemen, aviation enthusiasts or indeed anyone with a sense of humour who likes to hear a good yarn.'

'... its rich vein of humour.'

'We always like a good laugh and if you get a copy of this cheaply priced paperback you are bound to have not one but quite a few ... We found this book to be a delight to read and one which could not be put down until the last guffaw.'

A note: Some of the contents of 'Tales from the Crewroom' have been incorporated in 'Specialist Aircrew' - which sustains that humorous vein.

This book originated from my own interest in this nomadic pastime. The blurb describes the book thus:
'This, the only book devoted to motorcaravanning, will prove essential reading for the first-time buyer/user as well as providing invaluable information for the more experienced motorcaravanner.
Did you know that there are five basic types of motorcaravan? Guidance on choosing the right one for you is the first step of this journey through motorcaravanning. Aspects of ownership and driving follow. There are comprehensive chapters on motorcaravan 'systems': gas, electricity and water. Advice is offered to the cook on the choice and use of the kitchen. Once the motorcaravanner is ready to go, the possible destinations are discussed. There is a detailed chapter on travelling abroad. The motorcaravan lends itself to DIY activity and ideas are given for this. Subjects discussed for the more advanced stage are car towing and American motorhomes. Advice is offered on security and hire - and much, much more. In fact, everything you need to know about motorcaravanning will be found in these pages.

'David Berry is to be congratulated on his new book. Not only does it contain a wealth of information, but it is based on good common sense which motorcaravanning is all about. Read, enjoy and have many happy years of motorcaravanning.'

This was a very early Keyham Books project - in fact, it was created before 'Keyham Books' existed - a lot of lessons were learnt! The local villagers contributed their memories and photographs, which were assembled by the author.

The text of 'The Motorcaravan Handbook' was modified as a script for this video, sponsored by Peugeot and produced for The Caravan Club.

These are products of Keyham Books - a rather strange one. They were produced for Polish medical people and are research papers. They were translated from the Polish. This meant that editing, as well as layout etc, was part of the task. Only a small number of copies were required so a 'Print on Demand' company was successfully used.

Since 1985 the author has produced a twice-yearly magazine for the Britannia Association - total to date - 40! The format has changed over the years but has settled to that on the left since 1990.

This was the first self-published book - in 1996. 'The Whispering Giant in Uniform' told the story of the Bristol Britannia in Royal Air Force service. It proved popular and the 1000 print run sold out. In nine years more material had been gathered and this was added to the content of this original book expanding its 256 pages to 626! The new edition was given a fresh title to reflect much of its new content - 'The RAF Britannia and its people'.

'Specialist Aircrew' - the life and times of a 1951 to 1991 RAF pilot.
'The Recreational Nomad' - a motorcaravanning miscellany to inform, inspire and entertain.
'RV in UK' - a guide to the British operation of an American motorhome.
'A Cute Little RV' - how to travel the USA in your own motorhome.
Ireland - a CD-ROM Guide for Motorhomers
